The Secular Global Institute amplifies the diverse and quickly growing voice of the nontheistic community in the United States and globally. Located in Washington DC, we focus on the political issues where our secular viewpoint and scientific reasoning shed light on laws where religion has had a heavy influence.

Our team includes the world's leading intellectuals, who provide research and opinion on the leading political issues of our day. We publish and disseminate their research to lawmakers in the form of reports, videos, surveys, demographic studies, and more.

While the Secular Global Institute was created expressly by and for nontheists, we welcome the participation of religious individuals who share our view that freedom of conscience must extend to people of all faiths and of no faith. Accordingly, our staff works in cooperation with a variety of other organizations and coalitions where common ground exists on specific issues.

We are committed to promoting objective reason and science as the most reliable methods for understanding the Universe and improving the human condition through better public policy. The aim is not to produce research and analysis that pleases a particular worldview, but to discover what is truly best for humanity and disseminate the results. We encourage the pursuit of knowledge and the building of ethical codes without reference to the supernatural. We affirm the secular form of government as a necessary condition for the interdependent rights of religious freedom and religious dissent. We come together as free agents drawn from all corners of the globe to collaborate.

The Secular Global Institute furthers a powerful truth: that the evidence-based approach of science, which can be tested and supported, is the best way to form public policy and move society into the future. Freedom is best guaranteed by protecting and strengthening the secular character of our government. Religious tolerance, a necessary product of this freedom, must be extended to people of all religions and to those without religious beliefs.
